Taking Care of Your Roof – Springtime Maintenance

Are you ready for the warmer springtime weather? As a homeowner we prepare our homes for the unpredictable North Texas winter weather, but often overlook the transition to warmer weather. As the warmer weather rolls in it is time to think about spring cleaning your roof.

At WeatherShield Roofing and Sheetmetal we know taking care of your roof is important all year-round. We are here to help you prepare for the shift from cold to warm weather and what that can do to your roof. Winter can be harsh on your roof, but it often does not reveal itself until the seasons change. Here are a few tips to help you take care of your roof during spring clean up easier.

Trim Limbs

It is important to make sure that limbs, bushes and other landscape foliage is trimmed back and away from your home. Tree limbs can easily rub against your roof during storms or windy conditions and can scrape off the protective covering of the shingles. Limbs can potentially dislodge the shingles and damage the underlying roof structure.

Check Gutters

Throughout winter debris can build up in your gutters and downspouts. If leaves, twigs or dirt are clogging up your gutters, they won’t be able to do their job properly when the next spring rainstorm rolls around. Be sure to thoroughly clean out your gutters this spring!

Schedule an Inspection

While you are crossing things off your spring cleaning to-do list, schedule a roofing inspection with WeatherShield! We can help you determine the extent of your roof damage, if any, and whether it needs a simple patch, an involved repair or a total replacement. Your roof protects your home and is worth the investment to make sure it keeps you safe.
